Abercrombie Sloane Pants Review: Are They Worth It?

In recent years, business-core has become a simple, accessible way for women of all ages to approach chic, timeless dressing. As a 30-year-old mom of two myself, I’ve spent the last several seasons looking for strategies that allow me to mature my wardrobe in ways that exude confidence and style but don’t sacrifice the practicality, convenience, and comfort that is needed for keeping up with my two toddlers.

While taking stock of the chic, professional outfits constantly bombarding my Instagram feed, it didn’t take long to make a critical observation: If you want to instantly elevate your outfit, you need a go-to pair of trousers

As someone who has always been a jeans girl (even during my high school and college years, when most of my fellows were rocking cotton leggings ‘round the clock), I was initially skeptical of trousers. They looked like they might be uncomfortable, and—residing in the middle of nowhere without access to a dry-cleaning service—I didn’t see how these pants would fit into my lifestyle. But I do enjoy my research. So, research I did. And I quickly discovered there is one crème de la crème solution when it comes to everyday trousers for the masses: the Abercrombie & Fitch Sloane Tailored Pants

The Abercrombie Sloane Trouser: My Honest Review

This past fall, I added two neutral shades of the pants to my wardrobe, and, fellow moms, let me tell you—they are 100 percent worth the hype. Since then, several more pairs of varying hues and materials have found their way into my closet, and each and every pair is sure to be loved for many years to come.

Whether you’ve heard of A&F Sloane or have yet to be introduced to the glory that is these pants, allow me to explain why these bottoms are the exemplary trouser solution—especially for moms.

How to Style the Abercrombie Sloane Pants

These trousers go with every kind of top. I’m not joking! Every single kind. Graphic tees, blouses, tank tops, button-ups, sweaters—you name it. Sloane matches any and all. Because we moms are often working with limited clothing budgets and closet spaces, this versatility is a top-tier attribute. With how often you’ll wear these pants, the cost-per-wear is essentially nil. They are a closet staple through and through.

Paired with a favorite sweater and loafers in the fall or ballet flats and a tee in the summer, these trousers also look stunning year-round. They are an essential wardrobe building block—elevating an outfit at its core without overtaking the entire ensemble.

They’re also very comfortable year-round—heavy enough to be warm in the winter months and yet, somehow, also light enough to avoid being stifling during the spring and summer. The breezy, wide-leg fit is also a comfortable (and stylish) bonus.

That being said, if you are prone to running hot during the warmer seasons, I can’t recommend the A&F Sloane Tailored Premium Linen Pant enough. Ridiculously chic and yet as comfortable as rocking a pair of pajama bottoms. Perfect for the office, beach, or errands with the kids in tow.

Are the Abercrombie Sloane Pants machine washable?

As previously mentioned, I don’t live in close vicinity to a professional dry-cleaning business. Aside from being expensive and another chore for the to-do list, dry-cleaning is very much not an option for me. As a mom (and honestly, as a busy woman in general), I love that these pants are machine washable. Toddler wiped their peanut butter-coated hand down the front of me? Break out the stain remover and move on.

Speaking from experience, I also love that machine washing doesn’t sacrifice the integrity of the pants. In other words, they wash really well. To my delighted surprise, they are also wrinkle-resistant and come out of the wash looking fresh and ready-to-wear.

What colors do the trousers come in?

Whether you’re a neutral-or-nothing kind of woman or enjoy wearing every hue of the rainbow, there is a Sloane trouser for you. These pants come in a really fun and practical variety of colors. Some particularly eye-catching options that are currently available include a trending butter yellow and a dreamy baby blue.

Abercrombie Sloane Pants Sizing

One of my favorite aspects of the A&F brand is its commitment to inclusivity. These trousers can be purchased in a wide variety of length and waist combinations and are also available in the brand’s renowned “Curve Love” fit. I also appreciate how the pants fit true to size, removing the obstacle of guessing a waist size. I have tried both my typical size as well as the size above and have found my usual size to be the most comfortable and flattering.

When it comes to length, with my own height ringing in at 5 feet 3 inches, I was initially unsure which measurement would serve my frame best. I typically wear “regular” length pants but, given the recommendation on the website, decided to give the “short” length a go as well.

The results? I actually really enjoy both lengths—depending on the shoes I’m wearing. If you’re on a length cusp like I am, consider which shoes you’ll style your trousers with most often. If you’re constantly grabbing for minimal heel heights (ballet flats, flat sandals, sneakers, etc.), go for the shorter length. On the flip side, if you enjoy heels and platforms, give yourself some additional length to elongate your form and avoid an unintentional pedal-pusher look.

Are they worth it?

Feeling put-together through outfitting is far from simple when you’re a mom. Between budgeting, time constraints, and the wear and tear parenthood puts on your wardrobe, I know how dressing well can feel darn near impossible when you have kids. One of the simplest ways to achieve chic dressing is through the investment of practical, elevated wardrobe staples that can be effortlessly styled and worn on repeat. Take my word for it: The A&F Sloane Tailored Pant is one of those pieces. A not-so-hidden gem. A genuine treasure.

Add to cart my fellow moms—you won’t regret it.
